Dermal fillers for Anti-ageing
Dermal fillers are a popular treatment options for the reduction of wrinkles and for skin rejuvenation in the face, hands and décolleté. At NoviSkin, we use Hyaluronic Acid dermal fillers. Using filler substances to counteract the signs of ageing is now a well-established technique.
Doctors realize that the ageing face is like a deflating ball. This leads to a more holistic look at volume restoration of the face to give a more youthful look. And what a difference re-volumising has made!
The younger face is in the shape of a triangle, with the broad part at the top. The ageing face shows an inverted triangle with the broad part at the bottom. Facial volumising aims to revert this triangle as far as possible. Our faces look older because we lose volume in strategic places, particularly the cheekbones, temples, nose and even on the eyebrows. The volumising technique targets these areas to give a younger and more refreshed look.
A further improvement has been the use of cannulas in selected patients. Cannulas are special needles which drastically reduce the amount of bruising a patient will experience during the filling procedure. When using cannulas, far fewer entry points (needle pricks) are needed. Each patient is evaluated to decide if he/she is a suitable candidate for cannulas or not. Suitability depends on a number of factors, but mostly on the amount of filling needed and the areas the need to be filled.
Nearly every single NoviSkin anti-ageing patient would benefit from a treatment protocol with Derma fillers. The more common treatments include:
- Liquid facelift
- 3D vector facelift

- Facial sculpting ]

What are the Benefits of using Dermal Fillers?
Instant and long lasting anti-ageing results are the immediate benefits of undergoing dermal filler treatments. Long-term benefits include better hydration of the treatment area and therefore reduced risk of developing further wrinkles.
Treatment procedures vary depending on the location of the injection. In most cases a dermal filler treatment is administered via an appropriate gauge needle or micro-cannula. Traditionally the treatment area is numbed using local anaesthetic, dental blocks or topical anaesthetic cream. Then the pre-discussed dermal filler is injected into the dermis to:
- Fill a wrinkle from the inside out
- Define the lip border
- Add volume to the cheeks, lips or tear troughs
Skin rejuvenation treatments of the hands, décolleté or face is done with a needle or cannula and multiple injection sites.
There are countless volume loss treatment options available to the public. Some alternative treatments can include:
- Chemical Peel
- PRP Therapy
It is advised that you do not undergo Dermal filler treatments should you be affected by any of these contra-indications:
- Infection near or at the injection site
- Known allergy to Hyaluronic acid
- Known allergy to Lidocaine

Post-procedure care plays a vital role in the achievement of optimal results and hence it is essential for the patient to follow these instructions:
The patient is advised to refrain from massaging the injected area for 2 weeks and exposing the treated area to extremes of temperatures like sauna and/or extreme cold. If any bruising occurs; it will be temporary. Follow-up visits for touch-up treatment should be after 2 weeks and not longer than 4 weeks.
